How Usage works

Usage is a coin on pump.fun whose trading fees are paid out to the people holding it, mostly as AI credits. Here's exactly how.

Where the money comes from

Every buy and sell of $USAGE on pump.fun pays a small creator fee. Those fees are the only source of rewards: more trading means bigger payouts, and quiet days mean small ones.

Every few minutes, once enough fees have built up, the project claims them and runs a split. 2% is kept to pay for servers, data and transaction fees. Then 20% of what's left buys $USAGE and burns it, so the supply only goes down. Everything else goes to holders, and the treasury page shows every split, burn and transaction.

Who gets paid

Your share

Your share of a split is your weight divided by everyone's weight. Your weight is:

balance × loyalty multiplier × usage multiplier

Loyalty: up to 2x

The clock starts when you first hold $20 or more. It reaches 1.25x at 7 days, 1.5x at 14 days and 2x at 30 days. Buying more never resets it. Selling more than a quarter of your balance restarts it; selling less pushes it back by the same share.

Usage: up to 1.5x

Look at the credits you earned over the last 30 days and how much of them you spent. Use 25% and you get 1.25x; use 50% and you get 1.5x. It's measured as a share of what you earned, so a big holder has to use proportionally more to get the same boost.

AI credits or SOL

You choose how you're paid in your dashboard, and the change applies from the next split.

SOL shares smaller than 0.001 SOL wait until they add up, then they're sent together. Waiting shares expire after 30 days and go back into the pot.

Using credits

Credits work with hundreds of models through one API key, in the chat on this site, or in any app that lets you set an OpenAI base URL. See Developers for setup.

You pay what the AI provider charges plus 6%, which covers the fees for funding the provider account. A request reserves its maximum cost first and releases the unused part when it finishes. Failed requests are free.

The treasury page shows how many credits holders haven't spent yet. The project keeps the AI provider account funded above that amount.

The same credits pay for images, voice, video and other people's APIs on the marketplace. Need more? Top up from your dashboard by sending $USAGE: you get 90% of its value in credits, and a tenth of the tokens are burned.

Paired coins and agents

Anyone can launch a coin priced in $USAGE. Buying it means buying $USAGE first, and the coin's own $USAGE pile earns a share of every split, paid to its creator as credits.

Agents are AI bots with their own paired coin. Trading the coin pays for the agent's thinking, so anyone can chat with it for free. When it runs out of credits it goes to sleep until people trade it again. Whoever creates an agent gets a fifth of its fees as credits.

Questions

Do I have to sign in to get paid?

No. Payouts go to your wallet automatically. Signing in is only needed to switch between credits and SOL, create API keys, or see your credit balance.

Is signing in safe?

Signing in asks your wallet to sign a short text message. It isn't a transaction, can't move your funds, and never asks for your recovery phrase.

Why didn't I get anything this split?

Common reasons: you held under $20, you weren't in both balance readings, or your SOL share was under 0.001 SOL and is waiting to add up. Look up your wallet on the treasury page to check.

Can I turn credits back into SOL?

No. Credits can only be spent on AI. Switching your payout to SOL changes future splits; credits you already have stay in your balance.

What happens if I sell?

You keep everything already paid to you, including credits. Selling lowers your weight in future splits and may restart your loyalty clock.

Is this an investment?

No. Payouts depend entirely on trading volume and can drop to nothing. Only hold what you're comfortable losing.
